Swaged Steel Suspension Tubes
Swaged steel suspension tubes are used to build or repair suspension links such as radius rods, panhard bars and ladder bars. The swaged end reduces the tube diameter so a rod end or heim joint can be welded or threaded in, giving a strong, lightweight connection point.
They come in different lengths (from around 10 inches up to 22 inches in this range) and tube diameters, with some supplied threaded and ready to fit a rod end, and others swaged only for you to thread or weld yourself. Pick the length to suit the suspension link you're building and the tube O.D. to match the rod end thread size you're using.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a swaged tube and a threaded swaged tube?
A swaged tube has the end reduced in diameter ready for welding or further machining. A threaded swaged tube has that reduced end already cut with thread, ready to screw a rod end straight on.
How do I choose the right tube length?
Measure the suspension link you're replacing or building to and choose the closest length, allowing for any rod end thread that will be screwed in at each end.
Does the tube diameter need to match my rod end?
Yes, the tube's outside diameter should suit the thread size of the rod end you intend to fit, such as 3/4 inch O.D. for a 3/4 inch rod end.
